Op-Ed By U.S. Senator Olympia Snowe: AHPs Are a Matter of Fairness
AHPs are a matter of fairness.
"For the past decade, the American people have consistently and overwhelmingly told Congress that access to affordable health insurance and the explosive growth in premiums are a major concern. Unfortunately, the Senate has not passed legislation to confront this deepening national crisis that continues to harm small businesses' ability to create jobs and compete in today's global economy. The time to act is now.

Base Relocations in Area Mean Local Governments Will Bear Burden of Improving Strained Roads
Expressing dismay over the willingness of the Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRAC) ''to exceed its mandate from Congress'' and relocate thousands of federal workers from the transit-rich inner capital suburbs in Arlington and Fairfax counties to the outer military grounds of Fort Belvoir and Fort Meade in heavy-traffic areas of Virginia and Maryland, Fairfax County Supervisor Penny Gross points out in a Falls Church News-Press commentary that the action ''directly contradicts the good planning and 'smart growth' principles that local jurisdictions have been implementing during the past several years.''
