GCAAR has made endorsements for the 2026 general elections

The election is Tuesday, Nov. 3.

District of Columbia

GCAAR's Political and Campaign Affairs Committee (PCAC) has endorsed four candidates who are running to serve on the Council of the District of Columbia in the November 3 general election.

Ranked-choice voting will again be used in the general election, as it was in the primary, where voters can choose to rank candidates in order of preference.   

GCAAR endorsements for the Council of District of Columbia:

  • Council Chairman (D): Phil Mendelson
  • Ward 3 (D): Matthew Frumin
  • Ward 6 (D): Charles Allen
  • Council At-Large (I): Elissa Silverman

2026 Key election dates:

  • Early voting: October 26-November 1
  • General election: November 3

Montgomery County

GCAAR’s Political and Campaign Affairs Committee (PCAC) has endorsed 10 candidates who are running to serve on the Montgomery County Council and as County Executive in the November 3 general election. Additionally, for the first time, GCAAR has made endorsements in the Board of Education races.

During the last two months, GCAAR's Political and Campaign Affairs Committee (PCAC) reviewed candidate questionnaires and interviewed four Board of Education candidates and five Republican candidates for the council and county executive positions, to go along with the 25 candidate interviews conducted before the primary election in June.

The questionnaires and interviews helped the PCAC weigh the candidates’ policy platforms to determine their alignment with GCAAR’s positions and advocacy goals in support of the real-estate industry.

GCAAR endorsements for Montgomery County:

GCAAR has endorsed Will Jawando for Montgomery County Executive in the 2026 Montgomery County General Election.
 

GCAAR has endorsed the following candidates for Montgomery County Council:

  • District 1: Julie Yang

  • District 2: Marilyn Balcombe

  • District 3: Jud Ashman

  • District 4: Kate Stewart

  • District 5: No endorsement

  • District 6: No endorsement

  • District 7: Dawn Luedtke

  • Council At-Large: Scott Goldberg

  • Council At-Large: Karla Silvestre

GCAAR has endorsed the following candidates for Montgomery County Board of Education:

  • District 3: Sally McCarthy
  • At-Large: Omar Lazo
